Corps of Engineers to Release Additional Water from Flannagan Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will release additional water Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, in addition to the normal whitewater releases Saturday, Oct. 15, and Sunday, Oct. 16 from the John W. Flannagan Dam in Haysi, Va., in support of the USA Wildwater National Time Trials on the Russell Fork River in Elkhorn City, Ky.

During the first four full weekends in October, Flannagan Dam releases water for whitewater on the Pound and Russell Fork Rivers as part of its normal drawdown to bring the lake level behind the dam to its winter pool to allow additional rainwater storage in the spring.
