Boating Activity Resumes on Burnsville Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has reopened Burnsville Lake to boat traffic now that repairs to a damaged waterline are complete.

Although delayed by inclement weather, the line was successfully floated, inspected, repaired and re-anchored. Should any boaters encounter a floating section of the waterline in the future, they are asked to stay clear of it and report the location of that line to the Burnsville Lake Office or Marina so that it can be re-anchored.

Construction is also underway to enhance the structural stability of the three Burnsville Lake tainter gates located on the top of the dam. The repair crew began working on the structure April 4, 2011. The work is expected to take approximately 6 weeks to complete, and the crew will be working weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. During that time no one will be allowed to cross the top of the dam for safety reasons. Once repairs are complete, the dam will be opened to pedestrian traffic.
